I'll be heading off to the World Fantasy Conference on November 1 - 4. This year it's in Saratoga, New York and I suspect it will be very well attended. And of course I'll be at Orycon on November 16 - 18. I wouldn't miss that for the world!
I am utterly thrilled and very honored to have been invited to teach the second week of the Clarion West Writers Workshop. This is particularly special to me since I attended Clarion West in 1988. So this is my twentieth anniversary. I'll be teaching the week of June 30 through July 5, following Paul Park, and succeeded by agreat lineup with Cory Doctorow, Connie Willis, Sheree R. Thomas, and Chuck Palahniuk. So I miss being there on my birthday, but I'll get to watch the Seattle fireworks. I'm really looking forward to this week. Clarion West is an intense and powerful workshop and it certainly set me firmly on my path to full time writing. This is my chance to give back.
My new novel from Tor Books, Horizons, is out and doing well. I've gotten some great reviews and good feedback from readers. If you've been waiting for the paperback, it will be out in early November.
My collection Water Rites came out from Fairwood Press at the end of February. It's a look at what the future may hold for us if we continue to dither and argue over global warming. What is the world going to be like when water control means power and water is the limiting factor to life as we know it. Want a look at the Columbia Riverbed without water in it? You'll find it in Water Rites.

I have a story in
The Awakening an anthology published by Aberrant Dreams. The Red Soul was a requested sequel to Donald Wandrei's The Red Brain (and that was a challenge, let me tell you, since Wandrei's story is set at the end or our universe!). But I figured out a way to wriggle around that, and Red Soul ends up set in the future of my 'Horizons' universe. Right now they're taking preorders for the collectors addition and they're going to feature all kinds of signed art, including a very nice bookmark for Red Soul
